Ladies Special Weekend 04/14/19

Happy Tuesday everyone! I've been running behind all weekend up until today. I've been pecking away at my keyboard most of the morning knocking out a To Do list that would most likely scare you. But, I'm on the down hill slide now and feeling pretty good about being caught up.

There's just something about a crackling fire, spiritual
women and Rock Haven that stirs my soul!
This past weekend was an event from our church that I've really been interested in going to and when I found out my calendar became cleared up so I could go, I was tickled! Our church had an overnight Ladies Retreat event at Rock Haven Bible Camp located in Hasty, Arkansas nestled back in the woods. Such a peaceful and serene place to find your inner peace and reconnect with God.
I knew in my soul I needed this break to get away with some of the best ladies I know and let my hair down and unwind. The seminars were wonderful, informative and I really felt like my eyes and heart were opened up and all the junk and negativity that my body soaked in unknowingly was deleted from my mind. I truly felt renewed and felt I was leaving there cleansed and ready to face the world again with a sparkle in my eyes.

I thank each lady that touched my heart, opened my eyes and helped me to re-center myself once again. We had three amazing seminar speakers who seemed to put their heart and soul into their speaking.

Our guest speaker was Margaret Webb from Alive & Well  speaking and encouraging us to think of abiding as a dynamic relationship with Jesus and his body, the Church. She spoke on developing a Joyfully Connected Relationship, an Interactive Relationship and a Community Based Relationship with the vine, our source of Life and Love. Such an amazing woman to share her personal life stories and how she learned from them how to become a true child of God. She gave three very moving and emotional speaking segments that helped many of the women who attended understand where Margaret came from, how she conquered her demons and how these women could do the same.

Our seminar speakers in between were equally amazing in what they shared.
Ruth Stromlund spoke and expounded on the four Mary's that were by Jesus side through His ministry. The four Mary's were with him in person. She also shared how we can Abide in Christ today, the same as the four Mary's did. I wasn't aware there were so many Marys within the bible that were consistently by Jesus side throughout his lifetime.

Tammy Griggs spoke on Mind Full vs. Mindful. We all know our busy lives make it seem impossible to fully live in the present moment. Our thoughts are constantly digging up the past or reaching into the unknown future. Therefore, we are overrun with worry, anxiety and illness. God has given us the answer in His word. Ephesians 4:23 instructs us to renew the spirit of our minds. Have you found yourself lying in bed trying to go to sleep at night and you can't because your mind won't stop? This is part of what Tammy spoke on. We have to will our minds to let us rest, to put the phones down, turn off Facebook and let our minds calm down. Too much stimulus to the brain, not enough rest and meditation. This is definitely a "today's generation" problem but we are also seeing that older generations are starting to pick up that habit as well.

And last but not least we had Betty Dillenburg and Rachel VanDevender who spoke on journaling. They explained why it is important to journal to help us in our journey to Abide in Christ. They shared different kinds, sizes, types, ways and techniques of journaling. Growing up were you ever told it wasn't good to write or doodle or draw in your Bible? Well, it is okay to do so. They make Journaling Bibles you can color, draw, doodle or whatever you do best. If this interests you, check out DaySpring. They have everything under the Sun or you can visit one of their many locations. Or even look them up on Facebook.

As always, thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog. If you enjoy reading my blogs, enter your email address to receive them by email. I'm also on Facebook and Instagram as well.

Thank you as always and have a Blessed Day!
