Fellowship 3/10/19

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope this weekend has been a great one for everyone. Besides the strong wind gusts that could have taken me into the next county, it was a beautiful day yesterday! Today is pretty chilly with no sight of the sun, but still a day to be thankful for indeed.

The Sheriff and I had a great time last night while gathered in our home with good friends. We had our first
"Pickin' & Grinnin'" event. It was thrown together pretty fast so some of the invited guests were unable to attend our shindig, but a good time was still had by all who were able to come join us. Before we broke into song, we all joined around the table and enjoyed some good vittles and conversation. Everyone got caught up on the latest news of the county, school events and we reminisced of days gone by. Laughter filled the air as stories were told of funny stunts pulled between one another and we listened intently to tales of close calls with danger. It felt good to be hearing these stories even if I had heard some of them many, many times before. It reminded me that once upon a time, we were adventurous, fun, and sometimes tested our limits (some of the group still does, the Sheriff included.) We wouldn't have it any other way. We have stories to share with friends and our children who are reminded with these stories that we were once young too.

A comment the Sheriff and I say often and we heard it a lot last night was, "We need to do this more often." And, we do! Everyone needs to have fellowship with their friends and family often. Our excuse so many times is "life happens". I mean we literally say those exact words to people. So many times we don't attend local events, visit with our neighbors or family because we let "life" get in the way. We lose focus on the things we used to do back when life was carefree and we didn't have the stresses of the world on our shoulders. It wears you down and makes it so easy to do! It's like the Devil creeping into your mind and diverting your attention and time to him and only him. Slowly confining you to loneliness. Soon, your days are focused on "life". Days are filled with working, eating, sleeping; everything except giving your attention to God, friends and family; the ones you love. It's comparable to an assembly line in a factory; same thing over and over. But, when we maintain visuals on God, fellowship with Him pulls the mind free of the shackles of the mundane "life" assembly line.

I encourage everyone to keep having your conversations with God, and if you're not, I encourage to you start as soon as you can. You may feel that it is a one-sided conversation, but He is a good listener and answers in His way and His time. Also, cherish the fellowship with your friends and family. Not only is it uplifting to the body and mind, but it is so powerful to the soul. I have a strong feeling last night, someone in Heaven was smiling down on her home last night with Joy and happiness.
