Christian Obedience 3/17/19

Good evening! I hope that you all had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day Sunday and nobody got pinched( at least not to painfully😬). I somehow flew under the radar and avoided green and being pinched. Whew!  It's been a wonderful and beautiful Sunday for us. We were graced by our daughter's presence last night and she joined us at church service. Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious lunch before she returned home. We always cherish every moment we get to spend with her now that she is on her own and loving life. Proud parents for sure, we have loved watching this beautiful bundle of joy grow up into a very independent, level-headed, loving young woman. There aren't enough adjectives to describe how blessed we feel.

Today's sermon at church was a good one. It was a sermon to make you stop and "check yourself". By that, I mean, stop and make sure you haven't slipped and taken a plunge toward the wrong path, or given others the wrong impression of yourself.

One sentence really stuck with me. It's something I always repeated to our children if I saw they weren't doing the right thing or making a wise decision. Our pastor spoke these words, "You must watch how you live because others are watching". In other words, if you're living like God's children, you need to ALWAYS live like God's children. You can't take a "break" when you're tempted by Satan. Satan is always looking for the weakness in all of us. You must always keep your God guard up and stand strong. When our kids were little, if one started doing anything that was remotely wrong in any way, I would whisper in their ear, "little eyes are watching you". I did this so they could think about their actions and the consequences that came with those actions. Instead of scolding them both, they had the responsibility to make the right decision.

As adults, we should also be looking out for others who take a misstep, start down the wrong path or otherwise lose focus on God. We are our brothers' and sisters' keepers. We should always be keeping their best interests at heart; be there when they falter or stumble.

Here are 3 things to keep in mind:

  1. Avoid causing a follower of Christ to sin.
  2. Cut off anything that causes you to sin.
  3. Live out the cause of Christ.
We all should keep God in our heart and mind. Without His grace, we are but an empty shell of nothing. Become the pathway to Jesus for those who are lost. Guide them, encourage them and give them strength when they will weak.

I pray for our church SWAT team members who are in Texas this week. I pray that God works miracles through each one of them. I pray for many souls to be saved in His name. I pray for Him to watch over our missionaries, keep them safe and bring them home with a new vision for God. AMEN!
