Porch Swings on the Road

Porch Swings & Sweet Tea has been on the road since Friday. We took our home office on the road these past few days and have been enjoying a work/play conference. The Sheriff was scheduled to attend a national conference while the wives relaxed and enjoyed site seeing, shopping and taking in the scenery.

We watched competition pole vaulting while eating supper at Guy Fieri's Smokehouse. I'm such a huge fan of Guy's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network Channel. We couldn't pass up the chance to eat at his restaurant! The entire place was packed with a 2-3 hour wait just for a table. But, it was well worth the wait. The waiter was amazing, funny and very attentive to our needs before we knew them. Top-notch! The food didn't let us down either. Meatloaf dish was savory and smelled so good. The ribs were mouth-watering and delicious. Desserts are fit for kings (huge in serving size) as well. The Banana cream pie was amazing. We definitely didn't leave hungry. Thanks Guy!

Our next adventure was a day spent watching the horses race at Churchill Downs. What a beautiful place with such history all the way back to the late 1800's. There aren't too many pictures of the horse because we were so engrossed in picking horses to win before each race. It was exhilarating and fun. We didn't win lottery jackpot amounts, but we didn't break the bank. we had so much fun and I encourage everyone to spend a day here if you ever get the chance. There is a lot of history inside those walls. Just thinking of how the ladies and gents dressed to the nines to watch the horses race back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. In the muggy hot summer weather the ladies wore full length dresses (not light-weight material of course) hats of all shapes and styles and gloves. The men wore their best suits, finest hats and shoes.

Such a great trip for us to share with you. Porch Swings will be back at the home office later this week looking for new visitors to share with you. Stay tuned for pictures.

As always, thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. If you enjoy reading the blogs, sign up to receive them by email. I'm also on Facebook and Instagram as well. Have a blessed day!
