Latest Porch Swing Visitors

Happy Hump Day! It's been a busy week since we returned from traveling. The Sheriff had a conference to attend so I agreed to accompany him. It's great that I am able to drop whatever I'm doing to join him in his travels, join our son on all his school functions and not worry about missing work. My work travels with me wherever I go. Praise God prayers were answered.

Since being back at the home office, I've been busy with new adventures and catching photos of visitors to the Porch Swing. The Sheriff spied this little guy hanging from the corner of the well house stealing from the bird feeder. He has some pretty strong core muscles because he was hanging like this for several minutes. He HAD to be very hungry.

He filled his belly full of bird seed and took a break. Beside him on the limb a bird patiently waited for the feeder to be free and safe before taking a turn for a meal. I'm so glad that our birds are patient because the squirrel really went into overtime on his lunch break. We are so glad that he shared the food and didn't hog all the bird seed intended for the birds and not the rodents.
This fellow didn't stay perched long for this shot. He must have been new to Porch Swings & Sweet Tea. He wasn't familiar with the patience rule. He stayed long enough for this photo and then high-tailed it out of sight. Either he was impatient or wasn't too keen on the rain that was beginning to fall. It was hot and muggy outside so I wasn't sticking around outside long either.

This beauty stuck to the other feeder that was packed full of seeds and yummy morsels. He didn't have to share or wait at all. Such a gift from God that these aviary darlings grace us with their flighty presence.

This little guy had a rough time before I found him. Our German Wire Haired Pointer, Nash, had found him and was proudly trotting around in the yard with him in his mouth. Once I realized it wasn't a rock he was trying to show me, I ordered him to drop it. Poor thing!(Not Nash, the turtle) I quickly ordered Nash inside the house and scooped up the traumatized turtle. I moved him to the patio because I was unsure of the location from which he came. I gently sat him down by the flower pots on the patio and swiftly went inside for my camera. Even though it wasn't by choice, this guy was a visitor to the Porch Swing and I needed to catch his mug shot. It took him a bit to peek out and realize that the demon dog was no longer in sight or sniffing at his front door any longer.

But once he came to this realization, he made a beeline for the grass and was gone in the blink of an eye. He didn't go at "turtle" speed either. He put it in high gear and was making a run for it.
Porch Swings was a busy place with all the visitors and it was heart-warming to see each of them. I'm glad I was able to capture each individual's unique beauty and share it with you. If you are able to capture pictures of your visitors, feel free to send us pictures and we will share your story.
